If only they had stood fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, . . .
"وَ ما يَعْلَمُ تَاْويلَهُ الاَّ اللّ'ه و الراسِخُونَ فَي الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلْ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنا وَ يَذَّكُر اِلّا اولواْ الالْبابِ" (14)
Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked though most of them do not know.
{وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ صَبَرُوا حَتَّى تَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِمْ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ} [الحجرات:5] ، ومع ذلك مادام أكثرهم لا يعقلون {وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ} [الحجرات:5] .
Verily, We sent (Messengers) to many nations before you (O Muhammad).
Before thee We sent (Messengers) to many nations ...فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالْبَأْسَاء وَالضَّرَّاء لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
(Furnished or unfurnished).
[وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ لِلَّهِ فَإِنِ انْتَهَوْا فَلَا عُدْوَانَ إِلَّا عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ]
(Furnished or unfurnished).
فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَاحْذَرُوا وَمَن يُرِدِ اللَّهُ فِتْنَتَهُ فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئاً]
They are those whose works have been wasted, and they will abide in the Fire
(أُولئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمالُهُمْ وَفِي النّار هُمْ خالِدُونَ).
7:197 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves.
7:197 وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ لا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَنْصُرُونَ Those whom you call besides Allah are unable to help nor help themselves.
They are those whose works have been wasted, and they will abide in the Fire
أُولئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمالُهُمْ وَفِي النّار هُمْ خالِدُونَ).
the way of the disbelievers.
سبِيلِ الّلهِ وَاّلذِينَ كَ َفرُواْ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي َ
Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves.
وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْرًا وَلَا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَنْصُرُونَ No help can they give them, nor can they help themselves.
(Furnished or unfurnished).
قوله تعالى: { قُلْ إِن كَانَتْ لَكُمُ الدَّارُ الآَخِرَةُ عِندَ اللّهِ خَالِصَةً مِّن دُونِ النَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُاْ الْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ } [ البقرة: 94 ]
of the man they refer to is foreign, while this (the Qur'aan) is a clear
﴿ خَلَقَ الْإِنْسانَ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ فَإِذا هُوَ خَصيمٌ مُبينٌ َ﴾
The story of the people of Thamud, and the camel.
(89:9:1) wathamūda And Thamud وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ
(Furnished or unfurnished).
[مَّا يَفْعَلُ اللهُ بِعَذَابِكُمْ إِن شَكَرْتُمْ وَآمَنتُمْ وَكَانَ اللهُ شَاكِرًا عَلِيمًا]
(Furnished or unfurnished).
فَلَمَّا جَاءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنْ بُورِكَ مَنْ فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ]
The story of the people of Thamud, and the camel.
(51:43:2) thamūda Thamud وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
(Furnished or unfurnished).
إِنْ تَمْسَسْكُمْ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ وَإِنْ تُصِبْكُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَفْرَحُوا بِهَا وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ ]
So they feel sad some times. (*Note: He didn't use the word "them" or "they" in his reply, neither did he specify if he's referring to one parent or both parents, though we know that he only lives with his mother.
(وَإِن كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ مِّمَّا نَزَّلْنَا على عَبْدِنَا فَأْتُواْ بِسُورَةٍ مِّن مِّثْلِهِ وادعوا شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ الله إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ)
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ: عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ لَمَّا قَعَدَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، قَالَ لَهُ بِلَالٌ: أَعْتَقْتَنِي لِلَّهِ أَوْ لِنَفْسِكَ ؟ قَالَ: لِلَّهِ .
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
(فَإِنْ قُلْتَ): هَلْ فِيهَا دَلِيلٌ عَلَى طَرْدِ مَنْ لَمْ يَتُبْ مَنْ أَهْلِ الْكَبَائِرِ؟ (قُلْتُ): مَا أَبْيَنَ الدَّلِيلَ فِيهَا، وَهُوَ تُنَاوَلُ قَوْلِهِ:
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
فَإِنْ قِيلَ: فَلِمَ صَارَتْ هَذِهِ حَالُهُ؟ قِيلَ: لِمَا يَخَافُهُ مِنْ عِظَمِ الضَّرَرِ فَهُوَ يَدْفَعُ أَعْظَمَ الضَّرَرَيْنِ بِأَدْوَنِهِمَا وَدَوَاعِيهِ مَقْصُورَةٌ عَلَيْهِ لِأَجْلِ ذَلِكَ.
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
وقوله تعالى: ﴿قُلْ لَا أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِي نَفْعاً وَلَا ضَرّاً إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللهُ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ لَاسْتَكْثَرْتُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَمَا مَسَّنِيَ السُّوءُ إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴾؟!
There are thousands of verses that glorify women in scriptures.
وَفِي هَذِهِ الْجُمْلَةِ خِلَافٌ مَذْكُورٌ فِي كِتَابِ الْبَيَانِ لِأَبِي عَمْرٍو الدَّانِيِّ ، مَنْ أَرَادَ الْوُقُوفَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَدَهُ هُنَاكَ .
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
قِيلَ: إِنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْوَزِيرَ كَانَ يَخَافُ مِنْ هَجُوِ ابْنِ الرُّومِيِّ ، فَدَسَّ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ أَطْعَمَهُ خُشْكُنَاكَةً مَسْمُومَةً ، فَأَحَسَّ بِالسُّمِّ ، فَوَثَبَ ، فَقَالَ الْوَزِيرُ: إِلَى أَيْنَ ؟ قَالَ: إِلَى مَوْضِعٍ بَعَثْتَنِي إِلَيْهِ .
(Furnished or unfurnished).
كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى دُنْيَا يُصِيبُهَا أَوْ إِلَى امْرَأَةٍ يَنْكِحُهَا ، فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى مَا هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِ]].
These are packed with flavours; it was a clear winner for the day.
وَالَّذِيْ نَفْسِيْ بِيَدِهِ، إِنَّ هَذَا وَ شِيْعَتَهُ لَهُمُ الفائِزُونَ يوم القيامةِ
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
قَالَ: فَمَا هَذَا الْقِرْطَانِ؟ قَالَ ابْنَاهَا الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ وُجِدَ ذَلِكَ فِي غَامِضِ عَلِمْيِ قَبْلَ أَنْ أخلفك [أَخْلُقَكَ] بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ ."
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
الطالب: قَوْلُهُ: "بَابُ مَنْ مَاتَ وَعَلَيْهِ نَذْرٌ" أَيْ: هَلْ يُقْضَى عَنْهُ أَوْ لَا، وَالَّذِي ذَكَرَهُ فِي الْبَابِ يَقْتَضِي الْأَوَّلَ، لَكِنْ هَلْ هُوَ عَلَى سَبِيلِ الْوُجُوبِ أَوِ النَّدْبِ؟ خِلَافٌ يَأْتِي بَيَانه.
If only they had stood fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, . . .
و أيضاً: ﴿ أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَانِتٌ آنَاء اللَّيْلِ سَاجِدًا وَ قَائِمًا يَحْذَرُ الْآخِرَةَ وَ يَرْجُو رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ
['i.e. they have become obsolete, i.e. they are not today']
وَرَفَعُوا شِعَارًا: لا لِلفُقَرَاءِ بَعْدَ اليَومِ!
Not only that, but they supercharge them too.
وليس ذلك فحسب ، بل ، {ويُخْزِهِمْ ويَنْصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ } .
(Furnished or unfurnished).
وَمَنْ يَقْنُتْ مِنْكُنَّ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا نُؤْتِهَا أَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقًا كَرِيمًا ]
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
أَلَا تَرَى أَنَّهُ لَوْ قَالَ: مَنْ جَاءَ بِبِطْرِيقٍ فَهُوَ لَهُ وَأَلْفُ دِينَارٍ؟ أَوْ قَالَ: مَنْ جَاءَ بِالْمَلِكِ فَهُوَ لَهُ وَعِشْرُونَ رَأْسًا.

{وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلا طَائِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلا أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِي الْكِتَابِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ}.
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
وَهَلْ ثَمَّ جَوَاهِر خَفِيَّة أَمْ لَا؟ هَذَا مِنْ مُجَوِّزَات الْعُقُول، لَا يُقْطَع فيه بِوَاحِدٍ مِنْ الْأَمْرَيْنِ، وَإِنَّمَا يُقْطَع بِنَفْيِ الْفِعْل عَنْهَا وَبِإِضَافَتِهِ إِلَى اللَّه تَعَالَى.
(this is our) course with regard to those of our messengers whom we sent before you, and you shall not find a change in our course (77)
سُنَّةَ مَنْ قَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنْ رُسُلِنَا ۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلًا (٧٧) (This was Our) way with the messengers We sent before thee: thou wilt find no change in Our ways.
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
وَمَا ذَلِكَ أَيْ: وَمَا ذَهَابُكُمْ وَالْإِتْيَانُ بِخَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ بِمُمْتَنِعٍ وَلَا مُتَعَذِّرٍ عَلَيْهِ تَعَالَى، لِأَنَّهُ تَعَالَى هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى مَا يَشَاءُ.
Say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allah"; but most of them do not know.} (Luqman 31:25)
علَيیهھ ِ ووسلَّم َ: إإِنن الله َ يیَلُومم ُ علَى االعجز ِ وولَكن علَيیكَ بِالكيیس ِ فَإِذذاا غلَبَكَ أأَمر ٌ فَقُل ْ حسبِيَ اللهَ
and traded with the same, and made [them] other five talents.
فَذَهَبَ ٱلَّذي أَخَذَ ٱلخَمسَ ٱلوَزَناتِ وَتاجَرَ بِها، فَرَبِحَ خَمسَ وَزناتٍ أُخَر.
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
فَسَأَلَهُ بِيلاَطُسُ أَيْضاً: أَمَا تُجِيبُ بِشَيْءٍ؟ اُنْظُرْ كَمْ يَشْهَدُونَ عَلَيْكَ!
(Furnished or unfurnished).
لَهُمْ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَمِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٍ وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ ]
He said to Thābit ibn Qays ibn Shimās, "You will live being praised and you will die as a martyr" and he lived being praised and was martyred at al-Yamāmah.[27]He said about a person amongst the Muslims fighting alongside him, "he would be from amongst the denizens of the Fire" and later he committed suicide.[28]
] وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ [
God's he will be, till the day he dies.
اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنْفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
وَمَعْنَى ذُو الْعَرْشِ: أَيْ ذُو الْمُلْكِ وَالسُّلْطَانِ، كَمَا يُقَالُ: فُلَانٌ عَلَى سَرِيرِ مُلْكِهِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَى سَرِيرٍ.
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
فَقَالَ: مَا تَقُولُ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: هُوَ أَجَلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْلَمَهُ لَهُ ، قَالَ: (إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ) فَذَلِكَ عَلَامَةُ أَجَلِكَ (فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا) فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: لَا أَعْلَمُ مِنْهَا إِلَّا مَا تَقُولُ .
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى كَلِمَةٍ هِيَ كَنْزٌ مِنْ كُنُوزِ الْجَنَّةِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَا بِاللَّهِ
..." whoever is grateful, he is grateful only for (the good of) his own soul, and whoever is ungrateful, surely my Lord is self-Sufficient, Honoured" (Qur'an, 27:40).
7- أن الشاكر إنما يشكر لنفسه، ويرفع من درجاته: { وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّي غَنِيٌّ كَرِيمٌ ... } [النمل: 40].
is a reminder for those of understanding.
[69:48] وَإِنَّهُ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
Nor do I know if Boyden has placed one (or several) in this book.
وَمَا لِي لَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَنْ هُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ
But he asked them, "Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't take hold of it and pull it out? read more.
وقال تعالى:﴿ أَفَمَنْ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ الْحَقُّ كَمَنْ هُوَ أَعْمَى إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ ﴾ [الرعد: 19].
